The 7 Worlds of Gaiana
An Elven maid/rogue with a sharp wit and a sharper tongue. Currently quite hard to remember.
Age: 21 (human years)
Eye color: Emerald Green
Hair color: Light Brown
Nana is more often than not seen as a prim and proper individual. She speaks with a soft voice and in carefully picked words. She wears the standard attire of any maid serving a noble, but being one to keep secrets she’s managed to lace leather armor underneath her outfit. She has her hair always put up into a small ponytail. Her hair also features a braid typical of elven culture.
On occasion she is known to let loose and go back to her old habits. On those days her speech is loosely guarded and her prim and proper persona goes right out the window.
She is equipped with a rapier with which she wields in a proper form, well until she decides to fight dirty. for ranged combat she’ll roll up her sleeve and reveal a long bracer on her arm. With a quick flick of the wrist it will transform and open up into a small bow complete with arrows.
Nana was born the first child to Silas and Katriana Iodin. Shortly after she had gotten a little sister. They had lived as the rulers of a small town of Fallkirk. Nana never truly took things seriously through her life. As she grew up she tended to do as she pleased, often not considering her place as a noble in society. She was well known for being a wild and sarcastic individual. Even so she caught a specific noble’s eye. Varrok Nailo. This noble was the son of Tarron and Renna Nailo, a noble family that had been at odds since before Silas was even born.
She thought him an idiot on their first interaction and often turned away his advances. After embarrassing him quite badly in public, his parents finally stepped in. They saw this as potential to ‘bury the hatchet’ with their sworn enemies while increasing their own status.
They met and demands were made. Silas was a sensible man, but also a caring one. He was insulted at the notion of “marrying his daughter to such a buffoon”. The meeting quickly fell apart into petty threats and insults. Sadly, the Nailo family are known to make good on their threats and they had been waiting for a reason to go to war with the Iodins. An insult such as this was as good as any.
Over the course of the next few years, well known families began to one by one cut contact with the Iodin family. Merchants that often did business either disappeared or cut contact as well. Slowly but surely the Iodin’s wealth and status began to wane. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, there was a ‘revolution.’ Nana couldn’t understand how or why it started. Perhaps some of Nailo’s supported had sewn seeds of discourse in the town or perhaps her father hadn’t been as kind to those under him as she thought. She had never been one to pay attention to politics and that haunts her to this very day.
Peasants clashed with guards, blood was spilt and in the chaos Nana lost track of her family. To this day, the only reason she herself survived was due to one of the maids. She went by the name of Evelyn and quickly became her best and only friend left in the world. She hid her away for a time, told her that her family had managed to escape but couldn’t find out where despite her best efforts. Sadly, that wasn’t the end of the bad news. After the fallout had cleared in Fallkirk, it appeared that a true ‘man of the people’ had been raised up. Varrok Nailo.
Despite her desire for revenge, Nana knew survival must come first. The next few years of her life were a blur as she learned the ways of a servant and, by using a few favors from those still loyal to her family and with some help from Evelyn, landed a job as a maid to the Chalmire family. She served them faithfully for many years, gathering secrets and gossip all the while. Things went smoothly for quite some time before a child known as Erdan was born and…well that was the start of a whole world of new troubles for her…
